At the San Cristóbal Cancer Institute, our Breast Imaging Unit combines two leading Siemens technologies—the MAMMOMAT Revelation for 3D digital mammography and the ACUSON Maple Ultrasound System for advanced breast ultrasound (sonomammography)—to deliver the highest standard of accuracy, safety, and patient comfort.
This integrated approach enables our physicians to detect breast abnormalities at the earliest possible stage, correlate findings between mammography and ultrasound, and guide biopsies with precision. Why combine mammography and sonomammography?
An interesting fact: ultrasound imaging (sonomammography) can reveal changes in soft tissue before they become visible on mammography, making it an invaluable tool for personalized, early-stage cancer care. Mammography is the gold standard for breast cancer screening, but ultrasound adds critical detail—especially in women with dense breast tissue, where small abnormalities may be hidden on X-ray images. Using both technologies together allows our physicians to:
