Multiparametric MRI (mpMRI)

Consistently quick and accurate results with mpMRI

A multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) is a special type of MRI scan that produces a more detailed picture of your prostate gland than a standard MRI scan does. You usually have a mpMRI scan if doctors suspect that you have prostate cancer.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a scanning method that uses a strong magnetic field, radio waves, and special computer software to show detailed images of organs and tissues in the body. Unlike X-rays and CT (computed tomography) scans, MRI uses magnetic radio waves that are harmless to the human body. It is safe and noninvasive. MRI scans can be programmed for several different pulse sequences, or parameters, that highlight specific differences between healthy and unhealthy tissue. When two or more parameters are used, it is called multiparametric MRI (mpMRI).

Say ‘hello’ to SIGNA™ Architect Technology

The revolutionary technology of the SIGNA™ Architect allows our team to obtain cleaner, crisper images with AIR™ Recon, a latest-generation reconstruction engine. These technological advances translate into efficiencies for our staff and for our patients, as we can shorten exam setup times and improve test processes with AIR Touch™ and AIRx ™*, a series of new intelligent workflows for automated coil selection and slice prescription. Using AIR™ Recon, 80% of cases get improved image quality without added time.

By reducing scan time up to 50% with HyperSense*, we can transform the patient experience and reach new levels of versatility with AIR™ Coils*, recipient of AuntMinnie’s 2019 Best New Radiology Device award. For maximum comfort and efficacy, the adaptive AIR™ Coils accommodate all types of scans and patient sizes, while the feet-first imaging reduces claustrophobia rejection rate by 90%. The machine also allows for non-contact, free-breathing scanning with Auto Navigator.

Why does the machine we use matter?

A machine that acts faster and more efficiently is crucial for better patient outcomes, as it allows us to better diagnose and identify a course of action for your cancer treatment, while it minimizes discomforts. A machine that allows us to take images where the patient can enter feet-first, is a more comfortable, less stressful environment and can lead to better experiences. Meanwhile, a machine that acts quicker not only helps patients in pain (such as metastatic cancer patients, who suffer from severe discomfort is laying down for prolonged periods), but also allow us to see a larger number of patients on any given day. A specialized solution aided by cutting-edge technology is always the winning choice for patients with specific needs.
